Former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter called Trump a “Sociopathic Liar” on CNN’s Out Front during a debate with Paris Dennard, former White House Black Outreach Director under President George W. Bush.
Nutter condemned Trump for not understanding basic facts about his own presidency, after Trump reported bragged to firefighters on Wednesday that he’s passed more laws than any president in his first year:
“He’s the president of the United States. He’s the chief executive. These are knowable things. It’s not a mystery. And he should stop saying things that are not true. But that has been his history.”
“The problem here is that [Paris] knows more about Donald Trump’s record than he does…He should know it.”
According to the Daily Beast:
President Donald Trump on Wednesday told firefighters that he had signed more legislation at this point in his presidential career than any previous president. “We got a lot of legislation passed,” Trump said Wednesday, according to a pool report. “But I believe—and you would have to ask those folks who will know the real answer—we have more legislation passed, including the record was Harry Truman a long time ago. And we broke that record, so we got a lot done.” In actuality, Trump has signed 96 bills, the fewest of any president since before Truman
The CNN anchor began the segment by begging the question: “Why does he need to say he’s signed more bills than anybody when he can point to others things that are true?”
Paris Dennard, incapable of defending Trump’s lie, offered a number of ‘excuses’ to explain the situation, including this gem, “Maybe somebody has told him.”
