Ex-Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, a central figure in the Trump campaigns collusion with the Russian government, downplayed his relationship with Trump in an interview with CNN’s Matthew Chance.
Trump is having such a bad week that even the Russians are distancing themselves!
Ambassador Kislyak was a central figure in the 2016 Campaign, meeting with key Trump advisers and surrogates such as: Jared Kushner, Jeff Sessions, and Mike Flynn.
Now Kislyak is trying to “Lay low” and downplay his role in influencing the 2016 campaign, as the Russian government intervened on behalf of the Trump campaign to damage Secretary Clinton’s candidacy in a bid to lift sanctions the Obama Administration applied following the annexation of Crimea.
Reports surfaced in early 2017 that Kislyak met twice with then Senator Jeff Sessions (once in the Ambassador Hotel), as well as Jared Kushner, and apparently even Mike Flynn discussed lifting sanctions in a December telephone call with Kislyak.
