Nearly 200 Democrats in Congress, lead by Senator Blumenthal (D-CT) and John Conyers Jr. (D-Michigan), plan to sue ‘Crooked Donald’ for personally profiting from business dealings with foreign governments.
Trump’s refusal to divest from the Trump Organization means that he is likely violating the ‘Emoluments Clause’ of the U.S. Constitution.
The New York Times reported:
“The plaintiffs — believed to be the most members of Congress to ever sue a sitting president — contend that Mr. Trump has ignored a constitutional clause that prohibits federal officials from accepting gifts, or emoluments, from foreign powers without congressional approval.”
“Democratic members of the House and Senate who say they have been wrongly deprived of their constitutional right to rule on whether Mr. Trump can accept such economic benefits from foreign governments.”
This latest lawsuit follows the bombshell lawsuit that the Attorneys General of Maryland and Washington, D.C. announced earlier this week.
It’s hard to recall a more tumultuous time for a siting President, and begs the question: If Republicans impeached President Clinton for lying about receiving a blowjob in the Oval Office, when are they going to Impeach ‘Crooked Donald’?
