Boom! Jake Tapper absolutely crushed GOP House Intel committee chairman Devin Nunes last night for steamrolling the Constitution by sharing classified evidence from the Congressional Russia investigation with Trump before releasing the information to the rest of the House committee.
What’s wrong with that? Well, the Constitution expressly charges Congress with oversight powers to maintain a system of checks and balances over the Executive branch.
Sharing sensitive evidence from a Congressional investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, as part of a counterintelligence operation, overtly violates the oversight powers granted to Congress and jeopardizes not only the legitimacy, but also the integrity of the entire investigation.
It’s also bad politics, as Nunes now looks like a Trump lackey more concerned with kissing the ring of the ‘Mad King’ than honoring his oath to uphold and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Trump is squarely in the category of the later!
