Watch: Former Bush AG “Where’s the crime?” Defends Trump Russia Ties
What in the world is wrong with Attorney General Michael Mukasey? The former Bush official charged with running the Department of Justice (DOJ) went on CNN’s “Out Front with Erin Burnett” last night to defend the Trump Administration against charges of treason and sedition under the Logan Act.
When pressed by Burnett for a comment on whether or not Mukasey supported a special prosecutor to investigate collusion between the Trump campaign and senior Russian intelligence officials, Mukasey had the nerve to insinuate that there was ‘Nothing to see here’ by commenting, “Saying you ought to get stuff on Hillary Clinton, believe it or not, is not a crime.”
Burnett pressed Mukasey further by asking if the former Attorney General was “Fine” with the President of The United States colluding with a foreign adversary to attack domestic political opponents, to which Mukasey replied, “There is a difference between what I’m fine with and what is legal.”
Herein lies the blatant hypocrisy of the Republican response to Trump’s shady, borderline treasonous relations with Russia: if the shoe were on the other foot, there would be a lynchmob atmosphere on the right and rapid movement to impeach Barack Obama.
Republicans overtly and covertley insinuated for years that Obama was a secret Muslim who was “soft on terror” because he somehow sympathized with radical Islam. Yet now that we have actual evidence of senior level ties between Trump and a foreign adversary hellbent on undermining the credibility of our democracy, there is raucous silence on the right.
Shame on you Michael Mukasey! Shame on you.
