Why are so many Americans in favor of the Affordable Care Act yet opposed to Obamacare? After all, they are exactly the same thing!
Yes, breaking news Red State America, the ACA is Obamacare and Obamacare is the ACA. They are one in the same. Just like your cousin is your wife and your wife is your cousin.
Ok that was a little harsh. Just kidding, we love you Kentucky! Great bourbon.
But in all seriousness, Republicans have spent billions of dollars since 2009 to distort the truth and disparage the ACA by labeling it “Obamacare” in a sinister attempt to confuse voters.
Initially the idea was to drown Obama’s sky-high approval ratings in 2009 (as compared to Trump’s record-low) by affixing his name to the populist outrage against some of the more contentious elements of the Affordable Care Act. Like, you know, saving lives for folks with pre-existing conditions and allowing children to remain covered under their parent’s plan until 26.
We are baffled to this very day how so many voters can hold such conflicting views on the exact same piece of legislation. At least we have Jimmy Kimmel to help us laugh at how idiotic our politics have become!
